Autumn 2020: upcoming events Sustainable Tourism Community

This autumn is full of interesting opportunities to promote our common stance on a more sustainable and resilient Tourism sector. The Sustainable Tourism Community will present some of the tools and the experiences of our Interreg MED Projects at different events at European and national level.

This autumn is full of interesting opportunities to promote our common stance on a more sustainable and resilient Tourism sector. The Sustainable Tourism Community will present some of the tools and the experiences of our Interreg MED Projects at different events at European and national level.

_ On 20th October 2020 // 14:30-15:30 // we will participate in a workshop at the European Week of Regions and Cities co-organised with the Interreg MED Urban Transports Community about “Sustainable Mobility in Tourist Destinations”. The workshop features the intervention of Cristina Nunez (Managing Director, NECSTouR, partner of the Sustainable Tourism Community in charge of capitalisation). _ On 13th October // 12:15-12:50 // we are going to participate in the “Forum TourisTIC”, which this year will mainly address new models of tourism and technological solutions aimed at breaking up concentrations of tourists and promoting off-season tourism. Josep Rodriguez (Head of International Relations, Tourism Department of DIBA - Barcelona Provincial Council, lead partner of the Sustainable Tourism Community) will intervene at the workshop “Tools for Thinning Tourist Density and Promoting Off-Season Tourism in the Mediterranean” 12:15-12:50. The event will take place in Barcelona but you can follow the streaming too, in both cases you should register here.

_ On 12th October we will present our community main outcomes in a closed-doors thematic workshop on “Greener Holidays” organised in the framework of the “European Tourism Convention” by the European Commission. The Convention will launch a dialogue on sustainable recovery and the strategic orientations for the tourism of tomorrow and guide future work and cooperation on tourism (towards a European Agenda for Tourism 2050). 

_ Finally, on 11 November we will participate in “CETT Smart Tourism Congress” in Barcelona (Catalonia, Spain), an international congress gathering academics and professionals, focussing on innovation, sustainability, technology and governance, organised by CETT - Barcelona School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy. The round table “Best Practices in the Development of Smart Tourism Dimensions from Management Perspectives” will feature the intervention of Francesc Vila (Gerent de Serveis de Turisme, DIBA - Barcelona Provincial Council, lead partner of the Sustainable Tourism Community).
