“Towards new models of tourism. Technological solutions aimed at breaking up concentrations of tourists and promoting off-season tourism“ is the slogan of the 2020 edition of the Forum TurisTIC. The eight edition of the congress will focus on the new tourist models, which have had an expansion due to the new consumption habits generated by the global health crisis that we are facing in 2020.
On 13th October the Sustainable Tourism Community is organising a workshop “Tools for Thinning Tourist Density and Promoting Off-Season Tourism in the Mediterranean”, from 12h10 to 12h40. The workshop will be introduced by Josep Rodriguez (DIBA - Barcelona Provincial Council, lead partner of the Sustainable Tourism Community and a promoter of the TourisTIC Forum) and it will feature the intervention of representatives of three territorial cooperation projects from our Community: Herit-Data, ATER ECO and DestiMED.
These three projects have been selected for having designed and implemented technological tools to contribute to deconcentration and deseasonalization of tourist flows in Mediterranean coastal areas. The projects will be represented by the following speakers.
_ Joan Meseguer (Technical specialist in R&D and innovation projects, Fundació Valenciaport) > HERIT-DATA: Sustainable Heritage Management towards Mass Tourism Impact thanks to a holistic use of Big and Open Data
_ Gersón Beltrán López (Geographer, Play & go) > Challenges of the connected city: how to move tourists to their destination through their mobile, the experience of ALTER ECO Project in developing mobile app for Valencia and Gandia
_ Alessandro Galli (Mediterranean Program Director, Global Footprint Network) > Ecotourism Footprint Calculator: an on-line tool for monitoring tourism’s environmental pressures, the experience of DestiMED Project.
