Family Tourism, Sustainable Tourism / Salou (Spain)

Side-event of the renewed Sustainable Tourism Community Kick-off Meeting in Salou (Tarragona - Spain) that will take place on the 3rd and 4th of March 2020.

The "Family Tourism, Sustainable Tourism" event to be held in March 2nd, is an act organized by the Diputació de Tarragona within the PECT turisTIC family project, co-financed by the ERDF within the framework of the ERDF Catalonia investment and growth objective 2014- 2020, in collaboration with the City of Salou, within the framework of "Sustainable Tourism Community" meeting, organized by the Arco Latino network in Salou from March 2-4, 2020.

The act consists of an introductory intervention by the expert Jafar Jafari (Professor of Tourism at the University of Wisconsin-Stout -US-), and the subsequent round table about the great challenges of Sustainable Tourism, the current situation, surrounding circumstances and future prospects. The goal is to see how a Family Tourism Destination must do in the future regarding Sustainable Tourism. It will have the participation of Juan Manuel Benítez (Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism of the ULPGC) and Josep Francesc Valls (University Professor Ramon Llull).

The event will end with the presentation of 3 selected sustainable projects, and a subsequent debate that will moderate the dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Geography of the URV, Marta Nel·lo.

2 March / Auditorium Theatre of Salou (Meeting Room Europa)

16:00-16:30hs. Welcome and presentation of the event by Mr. Pere Granados - Mayor of Salou and Delegate of Europeans Projects and Knowledge Region of the Diputació de Tarragona, and representative of the presidency of Arco Latino. "Salou towards a Sustainable Tourism Model".

16:45-17:15hs. Speech by Mr. Jafar Jafari: “Sustainable tourism in a beach destination”.

17:15-18:00hs. Round table (Mr. Jafar Jafari, Mr. Josep Francesc Valls, Mr. Juan Manuel Benítez).

18:00-18:45hs. Presentation of successful projects of the Interreg Med “Sustainable Tourism Community”, and round table moderated by Ms. Marta Nel·lo.
